Nigerian comedian and actress Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, has cancelled her planned comedy show in Warri, Delta State, citing divisions surrounding the event.
The comedian announced the cancellation on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in a statement shared on her social media platforms. She said the show, which was scheduled to hold in the coming weeks, was called off because of circumstances arising from what she described as “unfortunate divisions” in the society.
According to reports, the event, titled Real Warri Pikin Live in Warri, was scheduled for September 20 in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State. Reports also indicated that she had received threats and petitions concerning the planned show.
In her statement, Asuoha expressed disappointment that divisions persisted in a society where, in her view, there should be unity.
She stressed that the cancellation would not affect the broader vision of her brand, saying her identity and work extended beyond her place of birth or local government.
The comedian also rejected attempts to define her solely by her ethnic or geographical background, saying she represented Delta State, Nigeria and Africa.
“I represent every local government in Delta State. I represent Delta State. I represent Nigeria. I represent Africa,” she said, while also emphasising her representation of women across different backgrounds.
Asuoha said she remained proud of Delta State and would continue to use her platform and talents to contribute positively to society.
She thanked fans and supporters who contacted her, offered advice and encouraged her during the controversy. She also said she held no bitterness towards those whose actions she believed contributed to the situation.
“My prayer is simply that God gives us all the wisdom to understand that we achieve far more when we build together than when we divide ourselves,” she said.
Despite the cancellation, the comedian maintained that her larger ambitions remained intact.
“The show may be cancelled, but the vision is not,” she said.
The cancellation comes after a period of strong international growth for Real Warri Pikin. In June 2026, she completed the US leg of her In My Element Tour, with performances in Dallas and Houston, while she subsequently completed a sold-out six-city Canadian tour in July.
Her decision to cancel the Warri event therefore marks a setback for a comedian who has continued to expand her live performances both within Nigeria and internationally.
