President Bola Tinubu has commended Nigerian security agencies following the successful rescue of 308 abductees in Kwara and Niger states, describing the operation as the largest single-day rescue of kidnapping victims recorded by the country’s security forces.
In a statement issued by the Presidency, Tinubu praised the military, police, intelligence agencies and other security personnel involved in the coordinated operation, saying the feat demonstrated the growing effectiveness of inter-agency collaboration in tackling insecurity.
The President said the rescue operation reflects his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and restoring peace in communities affected by kidnapping and banditry. He also commended the courage and professionalism of the security personnel who carried out the mission, noting that their efforts had brought relief to hundreds of families.
Tinubu reiterated that the Federal Government would sustain ongoing security operations across the country to dismantle criminal networks and secure the release of all Nigerians still in captivity. He assured citizens that the fight against terrorists, bandits and kidnappers remains a top priority of his administration.
The President urged security agencies not to relent in their operations and directed them to intensify intelligence gathering and coordinated offensives against criminal groups operating in different parts of the country.
He also expressed gratitude to local communities whose timely information and cooperation have continued to support security operations, stressing that public collaboration remains vital to improving national security.
The rescue of the 308 victims in Kwara and Niger states marks one of the most significant breakthroughs in Nigeria’s ongoing counter-kidnapping campaign and underscores the increasing reliance on joint operations involving the armed forces, police, intelligence services and other security agencies.
