Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has strongly condemned a recent kidnapping incident in the state, describing the act as unacceptable and a threat to public safety and security.
The governor, in a statement issued through his office, directed security agencies, particularly the police, to launch an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice.
Okpebholo expressed concern over the growing activities of criminal elements involved in kidnapping and other violent crimes, stressing that his administration would not tolerate any form of insecurity capable of undermining the peace and development of Edo State.
According to the governor, the safety of residents remains a top priority of his administration, and every necessary measure will be taken to protect lives and property across the state. He urged security agencies to intensify surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts in order to prevent similar incidents and dismantle criminal networks operating within the state.
“The government remains committed to ensuring that Edo State is safe for residents, investors, and visitors. Criminals will find no hiding place in our state,” the governor said.
He also called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could aid investigations and facilitate the arrest of suspects. According to him, community participation remains vital in the fight against crime and insecurity.
The governor further assured the family of the victim and the general public that the state government would closely monitor the investigation to ensure swift action and accountability.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Command has been directed to deploy all necessary resources toward uncovering the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and securing the safe recovery of any victims involved.
