Asaba, the Delta State capital, was agog on Saturday as governors, first ladies, deputy governors, political leaders, traditional rulers and other dignitaries gathered for the wedding of Clinton Oborevwori, son of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The wedding, which brought together prominent figures from across Nigeria’s political and business circles, was held at the Living Faith Church, Asaba.
Among those who attended were governors AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti, Usman Ododo of Kogi and Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
The gathering also attracted wives of governors, including Tamunominini Makinde, wife of the Oyo State governor; Cecilia Otti, wife of the Abia State governor; Fatima Aliyu, wife of the Sokoto State governor; and Mai Mala Buni, wife of the Yobe State governor.
Other dignitaries included Delta State Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme, former Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his wife, Edith, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) Heineken Lokpobiri, and Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa.
President Bola Tinubu was represented at the ceremony by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
In his remarks, Tinubu described Governor Oborevwori as a “bridge builder” and a model political leader, citing the gathering of personalities from different political parties as evidence of the governor’s ability to build relationships across political divides.
The wedding was between Clinton Oborevwori and his bride, Knowledge Davidson.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Oborevwori expressed appreciation to the President, fellow governors and other guests for honouring his family.
He described the occasion as a source of joy for parents and advised the newlyweds to remain united and patient in their marriage.
The chairman of the occasion, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, also congratulated the couple, describing marriage as a union that requires commitment and exemplary conduct.
The ceremony further featured prayers and a sermon by Pastor Adekunle Shiyanbade, who urged the couple to build their marriage on faith, love, truth and companionship.
The event underscored the broad political and social relationships maintained by Governor Oborevwori, with prominent figures from different parts of the country joining the family to celebrate the couple.
