Joe Igbokwe, an aide to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has criticized the son of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu for having an elaborate wedding while his parents are in prison.

The wedding, which took place in Abuja on Saturday, was attended by a number of high-profile guests, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Igbokwe took to Twitter to express his disapproval of the wedding, saying that it was “insensitive” and “a clear case of misplaced priorities.”

“How can you have an elaborate wedding when your parents are in prison?” Alli wrote. “This is insensitive and shows a lack of empathy.”

Alli’s criticism is the latest in a wave of condemnation that has been directed at Ekweremadu’s son since the wedding.

Some people have argued that the wedding is a celebration of love and should not be tarnished by the parents’ legal troubles.

Others have said that it is insensitive and inappropriate to have a lavish wedding while one’s parents are in prison.

Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, were arrested in the UK in June on charges of conspiring to bring a child to the UK for organ harvesting. The couple deny the charges.

They are currently being held in custody pending their trial.
